ISLAMABAD: President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Muhammad Yaseen Azad, in consultation with the Executive Committee has appealed the members of the legal fraternity to observe `Black Day' on Saturday (May 12), throughout the country.
It may be mentioned that ‘Black Day’ is being observed as a mark of protest and condemnation against the killing of lawyers and other citizens in Karachi on the same day in 2007 during the lawyers’ movement for restoration of judiciary.
The president has asked the lawyers to stay away from Court proceedings and participate in meetings by Bar Associations for paying tribute to the victims of May 12 tragic incident and express solidarity with their families, says a press release issued today.
In addition, they have further requested to all the Bar Councils and Bar Associations of country to convene protest meetings in their bar premises and observe full day strike. (APP)
